Great Bridesmaid Dresses at Great Prices
August 6, 2010 at 7:53 am 1
davids_bridesmaiddress

Recently we discovered this great resource for finding just the right bridesmaid dresses for a great price. This has been such a huge relief! When we were shopping for all the bridal stuff for our wedding it was really kind of nightmarish! Rushing into different stores, going back a few times, waiting for the change rooms to empty out…so many headaches…it was actually really stressful. Not to mention that we ended up buying 3 different dresses because we just wanted to get out of the stores as soon as we could – only to find out we didn’t really like what we actually bought! So, if you don’t like stress, or having to go back several times to stores to find just the right dress try out David's online store. They have a great selection and great prices. We’re even thinking of buying dresses from the site for other parties, not just weddings!

summerdinnerparty

One of the best thing about summer evenings is the warm air, sweet smells, and relaxed ambience that lets everyone sit back, enjoy a meal together, and linger for just a bit longer. So figure out when your next free evening is, call your closest friends, and have them over for a lovely dinner party. It's just so much more intimate than going out for dinner...and since we're all working our buns off so we can live a great life, let's make sure we are actually living a great life! We found this great recipee in Country Living and just couldn't resist sharing it with you.

Warm Garlic String Bean Salad For Warm Garlic String Bean Salad, blanch a 1-pound mix of yellow and green string beans for 2 minutes. Rinse to cool. Return to a saucepan with 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon butter, 3 tablespoons minced garlic, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and a 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Cook 4 minutes (medium-high heat). Toss in 2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley and 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest. Serve warm. Pasta with Garden Tomatoes and Fresh Mozzarella Pasta with Garden Tomatoes and Fresh Mozzarella is redolent with gently sautéed onion and garlic, which beautifully offset perky chopped tomatoes, basil, and cubed mozzarella. Sliced Grilled Rib-Eye Steak Marinade takes just minutes to prepare but adds a lot of flavor. Whisk 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar and 6 tablespoons olive oil together in a large nonreactive baking dish. Add 1/3 cup chopped Vidalia onion, 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme, 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Rib-eye steaks' primary attribute is their juicy flavor, making them great for grilling. Place four 12-ounce, 1-inch-thick boneless rib-eye steaks in the marinade and refrigerate for 1 hour; turn occasionally. The grill should be heated to medium-high. Shake onion bits from the steaks and grill until medium-rare — about 5 minutes — or longer if desired. Serve the steaks, thinly sliced, after resting them (tented with aluminum foil on a cutting board) 10 minutes. Leftovers make great lunchtime sandwiches the next day. Photo Credits: Country Living

10 Ways To Cure A Hangover
May 21, 2010 at 11:23 am 0
It's getting warmer, everyone is feeling social, the patios are packed, and the cocktails are flowing ever so freely! Sounds like a great time, but the next morning you will be feeling anything but great! Here Are 10 Sure Fire (And Fun!) Ways To Cure A Hangover: 1. Eat a bacon and egg sandwich. Salad will not help, you need to go for the heavy stuff! 2. Wear sunglasses. They will hide your bags and sleepy eyes, and will save you from getting a headache from the bright sun. 3. Stay horizontal. Sit on a lawn chair by the pool, lay in bed watching movies or plant yourself on the sofa and chat with your man. Don't try to be too active, you'll stir everything up, which is a baaaad thing when you have a hangover! 4. Don't make plans. Who wants to go for a run, eat a fancy brunch or go shopping when you feel awful. Don't commit to something if you need to be energized and feeling great to do it. 5. Drink lots of water before bed, when you wake up and throughout the day. You'll get hydrated and recover much faster. 6. Advil is your friend. Take 2 before bed, or right when you wake up. Actually, when you have a hangover Advil is your best friend! 7. Drink fresh squeezed juice or eat a few oranges. They have lots of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fluids that will make you feel fantastic! 8. Go swimming! Surfers swear that a quick dip cures any hangover - trust the experts! 9. Take a nap. Rest up, relax and rest some more. You need a little time to recover so drifting in and out of sleep when you are hung over is a great thing! 10. Watch feel good movies! When you are hung over you feel slow, and sluggish - so play your favourite movies that will make you laugh, smile and feel all giddy...you'll forget your hangover in no time!

How to Host a Great Holiday Party
December 18, 2009 at 12:01 pm 0

As the holiday season approaches there’s no better time to get together with friends and family and celebrate together. Here are some simple holiday tips to help you host a great holiday party. Pick a theme. Holiday parties don’t just have to be about Christmas. Pick a fun theme to boost your party this year. Think Bad Santa and come up with games and activities where your guests can play, laugh and get to know each other better. Your party will be the hit of the season. Invite a wide mix of people. A fun mix of people from different backgrounds with different interests can add some serious spice to your party. Instead of inviting the same six people why not make it ten, and add some new people to really stir things up? Stock up on liquor and spirits. Deviate from the everyday and come up with unique cocktail combinations to serve your guests, or have a wine or beer tasting party where your guests have to guess which is which. The more creative you get, the better your results. Provide some light and tasty snacks. When your guests are sipping and chatting make sure you’ve provided a fuel up station for them. Some nice, light, tasty snacks will go a long way. Try not to go with the super heavy and complicated snacks that will be hard for you to make, and leave your guests feeling bloated and sleepy. Decorate. Some festive ornaments and funky decorations will go far. Show that you put some effort into your party and add holiday accents – such as silver cocktail glasses and table decorations. Just add music. Before your guests arrive put the final touches on your soiree and put on some music. Have a few choices nearby that can help to elevate, or slow things down if needed. Since you’re setting a whole scene for your party make sure the music compliments the vibe you are trying to set with all the decorating, games and cocktail mixes. Go with the flow. Instead of forcing games and seating plans on your guests let them set the pace for the night. If your guests aren’t interested in your games drop it and move onto something else – and if they seem like they are ready for something different bring out the wine tasting. As long as things flow nicely it’ll be a great party.

Wedding Plans With An Open Budget
November 18, 2009 at 12:07 pm 1

Since we've decided to have a destination wedding there are heaps and piles of details that need to be figured out. Are we going to have an event each night for our guests? Are we planning daily activities like boat trips, and snorkelling and cultural excursions? Is there a theme? How will the wedding day work? Yup, there are many, many questions coming our way. And just about everytime we get one of those questions the answer is "We don't know". And we really don't know. But one of the cool things about not knowing what you're going to do on our wedding day is that all your options are open. You can look at crazy fancy decorations. Or tiny little seating cards. Or simple and sleek flower arrangements. You can look at pretty much anything. So until we have a budget figured out, the world truly is our oyster. Photo Credit: Wedding Chicks

Party time:Getting to know you – again
October 19, 2009 at 12:45 pm 0
I’m finally doing it! There is something I’ve been meaning to do for ages, but never manage to get around to. I even made it a monthly goal...only to let the month slip by without doing it. But not this month. I’m actually going to have a party and reconnect with my “lost” friends! Over the last year I’ve been working like a donkey, and spending a lot of time with my fiancé, so I haven’t been out and about socializing. Some of my friends have fallen through the cracks a bit. To change things I’ve decided to host a party and get to know everyone all over again. We can sip wine and eat cupcakes and chit chat all night long. Lost friends no more!

What to be for Halloween?
October 16, 2009 at 12:02 pm 1

Halloween is the best holiday! Everyone gets to be silly and put on another personality. Last year was my first glimpse into the full fun of Halloween here in Toronto. To prepare for the celebrations I had a group of girls over to my apartment. We had pre-drinks, and got dressed up together. There was a devil, a Marilyn Monroe type, a Mogatu garbage bag fashion fan, a club kid, Bat girl and Pippy Longstocking(me).

Walking through the halls and down the elevator in my building everyone was dressed up! There was Obama and Sarah Palin’s everyone. But the best costume was this guy dressed up as an ob tampon! When we went out the streets and clubs were filled with costume clad partygoers. At one of the clubs there was a pack of 30 year old guys dressed like boy scouts complete with matching backpacks, pulled up socks and nerdy glasses. It was hilarious!

This year there seems to be an extra buzz about Halloween. Maybe it’s the bad economy that makes everyone want an escape but there’s lots of chatter about this years Halloween costumes, and plenty of parties planned. But I still don’t know what to dress up as!
